Our Vision

Redefining the Game

Our mission is to establish 3-on-3 hockey as its own independent sport — different from how hockey is currently played. The format of the game lends itself to different systems, different styles, and opens up all sorts of possibilities to be creative. Hockey originally started out as rugby on ice, you could only pass backwards, there were actually 6 skaters and a goalie on the ice (there was a rover position), goalies couldn't drop to the ice (they'd get a $2 fine), there was the 2 line pass rule, you couldn't tag up for an offside, and players couldn't change on the fly. Things changed because it made sense. We're going to try some different things.

The Philosophy of the Format

  • Constant Involvement: With only 6 skaters per team, you have just enough time to catch your breath before you're on again.
  • Small area: This isn't full ice 3 on 3, it's cross ice, with a barrier across the bluelines. Hockey in a tight area is just more fun, it forces you to make plays and go through people, not just around people.
  • The Game is the Teacher: In 3-on-3, there's way more puck touches, plays and shots. You get the best of both worlds, the time with the puck from practice, and the competitiveness and real world situations of a game.
  • Meaningful Competition: We run mini-tournaments every weekend. Four games short games in two days.
